Just to update you guys on the McD family-
We are in OKC (again!) thanks to Ike. We weren't planning on evacuating until Thursday morning when news broke out that Ike switched his game plan and headed straight for Galveston... which meant he would make full contact with Houston. The phone calls started pouring in from family and friends... and even their co-workers... saying "You're not leaving!?!?!" Aaron called a little bit later and informed me that ConocoPhillips was shutting down by noon. I mentioned the berating phone calls and suggested the possibility of leaving. He thought it was absolutely ridiculous. I then berated him a bit about dealing with a Little Man with no power, running water, etc. He still wasn't convinced because (and I quote) "It's just gonna be a couple of rain storms...nothing big." In Aaron's defense, he had not watched the news about the latest warnings, so he was still thinking it was going to turn out to be nothing. The Houston Mayor suggested to the Houston area that we should just 'hunker down' in our homes. This mama was not about to 'hunker down' with a toddler without the promise of power and water afterwards. Can I get an amen?
I think Aaron would have gone along with the evacuation eventually because he wouldn't have wanted to hear me complain during the storm, but dear angels, Chad and Andrea, happened to have two tickets to the OSU football game on Saturday that they would not be able to use. Thank you friends! Want to know what convinced my husband? Tickets to an OSU football game! We packed up and tied down everything in less than two hours in an attempt to get on the road before more people decided to leave. I shoved random clothing in bags whether they were clean, ironed, etc. We loaded Camden and Gracie in the car and took off for OKC. It took us 30 minutes to go six miles on I-10! Luckily, we only had to go the six miles before we got to the cleared backroads that eventually got us to Waco where we could get on to I-35. It was an easy trip, and now we're both happy with the decision to evacuate.
We hung out with the Gregorys' on Friday night, and Camden and Sam had their first play date since we moved in December! They had so much fun, and Camden cried when Sam left. We had to bring Sam back to say one more good-bye. So cute! On Saturday we spent the day in Stillwater with the Roushes, while Camden played with his grandparents. That night we went to the Great State Fair of Oklahoma! to stuff ourselves with all kinds of yummy goodness. We had so much fun hanging out with the Roush family, especially with Miss Lilly. So cute! Altogether I would say this has been a successful evacuation!
Now for an Update on the McD's house...
Thanks to the Lantrips and the Blakemores for not only keeping us informed of what's going on but also going by and checking on our house after the storm! We did not lose any shingles or windows! Hallejuah! Part of our fence is down in the backyard, so we'll have to converse with Corvette Guy on our return, but there's no damage to the house! Thanks to Aaron's hardcore rope skills, Camden's fort and our lawn furniture remain intact on the patio. Our neighborhood has electricity and water as of last night, so we've decided to enjoy the nice Oklahoma weather one more day in hopes of missing the returning evacuees and the continuing rain before heading back to a post-hurricane Houston.
We'll update you guys on the return! Thank you to those who called or emailed concerning this whole mess! We truly appreciate it!

I'm impressed with Aaron's roping abilities. :) Glad all is well. Glad you all evacuated, and glad you got to go to the OSU game. It was the game that pushed Matt over the edge as well. :) These boys and their Cowboys! Miss ya'll!
