Happy Belated Father's Day!

Monday is known as HEB grocery day for me, but for Camden it means that he'll get an HEB balloon from the front clerk. For Gracie, who is scared of balloons, it means getting chased around the yard by a balloon-carrying Camden when we come home from the store. All three of us just love Mondays!

We've been out of the loop for quite awhile, so be expecting a few catch-up posts this week. Here's what has been going on as of late...

A few weeks ago my mom flew down to hang out with us and tame the Little Man while Aaron and I celebrated our 5th year wedding anniversary in San Antonio. We had a fabulous time eating, hanging out on the riverwalk, and catching up on some movies. After we returned, I packed up again and headed up to OKC with my mom and the Little Man the next day. (Both of Cam's Grandmas are teachers on summer vacation, and I want Camden to come up and hang out with them as much as possible this summer.) Camden spent the week playing with Cousin Addi, going on play dates with friends, and getting lots of lovin' by his grandparents. With all of these willing babysitters, I was able to have quite a bit of free time... and it was lovely. I got a haircut, a mani & pedi, lunches and dinners with friends, trips to the mall, and an amazing two hour stay at Barnes and Noble just reading and drinking coffee. It was fabulous.

and Aaron? For Father's Day he got a whole week alone to do whatever he wanted. To all of the mamas out there... can you just imagine being at home by yourself for seven days? No child... no husband... no ESPN... no toys on the floor (sigh)... just silence. Now come back to reality because that will probably never happen. It did happen for Aaron though. ESPN galore! He could eat fast food, visit the driving range, watch action movies, play Wii, etc. I returned to my fridge stocked with Mountain Dew, Totino's Pizza Rolls, and chocolate cookie dough ice cream. He missed us, but we can all agree that this was a pretty good Father's day gift even though he had a pretty busy week at work. A girlfriend of mine made the drive back to Houston with me on Sunday, visited us for a few days, and flew back home to OKC. Lots of visitors and visiting! Whew!

Aaron and Camden spent Father's Day evening wrestling and having shouting matches. It doesn't even need to be said how great of a father Aaron is to Camden. Aaron and I are truly partners in this whole parenting thing, and he has never been afraid to do the dirty work like feedings, baths, diapers, bedtime, etc. (He was afraid of Camden's bum thermometer but has since gotten past the fear and can successfully take a temp while continually apologizing to the Little Man!) Camden and Aaron are truly best buddies who spend most of the time competing on who can make each other laugh the most. Happy Father's Day, DaDa! You're the best!

Thank you for...
1. Letting all of my girlfriends pile in to the back of your truck and driving us around on our TeePee raids in the wee hours of the morning during my middle school years. Some of them still refer to you as "Wild Bill".

2. Taking us to see New Kids on the Block when we were little. Being surrounded by screaming pre-teens while listening to a lip-synced version of "Hanging Tough" was probably not your idea of a good time, but you proudly did it without any complaints.

3. Keeping us in the same school district from Kindergarten to Graduation. We know this was important to you because you never stayed in the same school for more than one year.

4. Sitting outside the fitting rooms at COUNTLESS stores while we tried on clothes while offering your opinions on how the outfits looked. (The test of a true man!)

5. For being a cool dad who introduced me to good music. I still rock out to the Ten Thousand Maniacs Unplugged and Live Fleetwood Mac CDs I swiped from you like 15 years ago.
