We were so excited to hear that our friends the Delanges were expecting their first child a few months ago. (Some of you obviously know Chris from ConocoPhillips.) His wife Machel was in Virginia on a business trip last week and went into pre-term labor at 24 weeks. The doctors tried to stop the labor, but Machel delivered Baby Isabella on Friday evening. Fortunately, Chris was there in time to be a part of the birth. Bella weighed 1 lb 11 oz and is 13 inches long. She was taken straight to the NICU and hooked up to several contraptions to help her survive. It's unbelievable how sweet and tiny she is. Please pray for the Delanges and Baby Isabella! Bella is a fighter, but there are obviously a lot of complications with her being so tiny. The Delanges are also far from their home in Texas, and Bella will need to stay at the hospital in Virginia for several months.
Chris and Machel have set up a blog for updates, pics, and prayer requests. There are already pics of Bella posted, including one of Chris' wedding ring loosely hanging on Bella's tiny little ankle to show just how small she is.
